Wow! What an amazing experience!! I loved this restaurant and the food was phenomenal. The thought that was put into the various dishes was amazing and all of it complemented each other really well. I loved how personable the staff was and how they really cared for us. It was not only good food and service but a great experience, one that was really fun! Didn't know what to expect going in but I loved every minute of it!

It's an unbelievable experience every time I go. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is laid back and comforting.

The owner, Opal, is one of the most pleasant men I have ever met, and will personally introduce himself to each and every customer. He'll then ask what your preferences and omissions are, if any, and your spiciness tolerance. After a few minutes you'll get the first course of a multi-course meal catered specifically to you!

EVERYTHING is delicious! The meals are not greasy at all, nor are they very heavy in the stomach. You finish your meal perfectly satisfied by the end; never left hungry and no wasted food for about $75 for two people, depending on what is served.

The wait staff are very kind and share the same familial-relationship atmosphere that Opal exudes while still displaying professionalism.

This place is nearly constantly busy and there really is little wonder as to why. It is absolutely recommended to call ahead for a reservation. There is a paid parking lot directly across the street, but it's hours vary so be aware you may have to park at one of the other paid parking lots nearby.

If it's not clear by now, I simply cannot recommend this place enough! It's certainly a must-visit while you're on the island.

This is the best place to eat in Oahu hands down. In fact, I almost didn’t want to write a review because I don’t want it to get too popular so that it’d be hard for us to get a table. I love Thai food, but this is a new level of Thai food for me. Opal talks to everyone, in fact, he picks your food for you. The menu? Yeah, it’s only there for looks. He does ask for any dietary restrictions (I’m a vegetarian, so I appreciated this). Heads up, though-it’s not well marked. The only sign you’ll see is a neon “Opal” in the window.

Honestly, even if you don’t care for Thai food, just go for the experience of Opal alone. He’s the best part of the whole meal.

This place is great! I went 2 times during my short trip to Hawaii and it will be one of the most memorable aspects. Opel was amazing! I have never had so many dishes at one restaurant that I have enjoyed so thoroughly. The experience is nothing like I’ve ever had before, it’s personalized, and detail oriented and I will be making trips back to Hawaii just to visit Opal’s Thai. Top notch food, top notch service, I will never look at thai the same again

This place is an "experience" and not your average restaurant. I wasn't quite prepared for that from the reviews I read, so I'll explain it as plainly as I can. You will (likely) meet a playful chef and his son. You will not order your food off a menu. Rather, after being asked some questions, the chef or waiter will disappear. You will be prepared some tasty dishes that align with the things you talked about with the chef and/or waiter. If you are on a budget, you should probably say that up front because you won't have control over what comes out of the kitchen for you. It seems like they keep things reasonable though. We arrived a little after 5 and did not have to wait, but they got packed shortly thereafter. Know what you're getting into, and enjoy!
