This was an interesting and phenomenal experience to say the least. Interesting because the owner, Opal, personally takes all the orders and customizes the menu based on dietary preferences. Ours was quite difficult, basically vegan plus no onion or garlic. Since Opal takes the orders himself, he is very personable with everyone but also very specific in the way he works so he is tough on his staff. The food was PHENOMENAL. Loved and enjoyed every bite. If only we’d known about this place sooner in our visit, we’d probably have come every day. Hands down the best customized Thai food ever. HIGHLY recommended. But call ahead (like a week ahead) for reservations.
So... He didn't tell us what we were eating? And it was amazing.
If you're into that, this is for you. If not, I think there was a regular menu? Or at least I assume that's what it was. He didn't really let us look at it. Just asked us what we knew about Thai food, any dietary restrictions, and preferred spiciness, and disappeared into the kitchen.
He'll surprise you with the best Thai food you've ever had.
Really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Many places will serve customers but Opal goes to a great length to understand each person that comes into his restaurant, selects a menu for them and makes sure to take care of their dietary needs.
The food was great! You can tell he has a passion for cooking which can be mistaken for something else as some people don't like others to choose for them. But we were not disappointed both times we went to eat here. He greets everyone and makes sure you are well taken care of. We will be back for the best Thai food I've ever had.
I understand that this will sound hyperbolic, but this was one of the greatest dining experiences of my life. The chef came out to our table and interviewed us about our previous Thai food experiences and then sent out food to match. It was all phenomenal. I don't think the Thai food back home will ever live up.
This place is hands down the best Thai food I've ever eaten. One thing you should know before you get in, this is not you're traditional restaurant. It's like "omakase" if you know what that is. It basically means Opal chooses for you based on a few questions he will ask you.
Trust me, it's worth it. The flavors are really bold and attack every taste bud that you have. I could not put my fork/spoon/chopstick down, it was just so good.
If you're adventurous or even curious with food, I highly recommend this place. If you like to play it safe and not into flavor, I would not recommend this place.
